About

On-Site Power as a path to Decarbonization

Whether you need to respond to federal, provincial, municipal, or shareholder carbon emission reduction mandates, we offer an efficient approach to transition.

How we work

We assess your supply needs, design the equipment, install it on your property, and maintain it. You only pay for energy.

Our Commitment

How we operate

  • IPP for DERs. Public Energy is a distributed energy resources-based independent power producer. We design, install, operate, finance and maintain pre-engineered, fully integrated onsite energy solutions for industrial and commercial customers.

  • Innovative DER Solutions. We use proven distributed energy resources technologies that provide savings over grid price and other sources of onsite power to ensure power quality and reliability. Solutions include prime power, CHP, battery storage, and solar PV.

  • Value. We offer fixed price 10 – 20-year power purchase agreements below grid cost, increased quality and reliability, with a lower carbon footprint.

Evolution

Grid Evolution: Driving to DERs

1990s: Centralized Generation

One-way power flowed through vertically integrated utilities. Generation --> Transmission --> Distribution --> Consumers.

Present: Decentralized generation

Two-way power flows become prevalent; local generation supplies the grid. Competitive access to monopoly utility wires permits Independent Power Producers (IPPs). Low economies-of-scale for new technology and the planning risk of large centralized stations make it easier to offer decentralized sources.

Future: Distributed Generation

On-site power generation becomes increasingly economical and beneficial compared to the grid. Next Generation IPPs with Transactive Energy and Blockchain (C2C) arrive. Hydrogen and other renewable energy breakthroughs offer alternative generation sources.
