Opportunities for Municipalities
Opportunity to improve community resilience and to diversify economic growth. Development that will create permanent and good paying jobs in your communities.
Public Energy is looking for suitable sites for its electricity generation projects. Alternative fuels include Renewable Natural gas and Hydrogen.
Hydrogen
At Public Energy, we are leading the charge towards a cleaner, more resilient energy future with North America’s first Hydrogen-to-Power Facility. By utilizing off-peak electricity to produce and store hydrogen, then converting it back to electricity through advanced hydrogen turbine technology, we provide a scalable model for balancing the grid and reducing emissions. Through close collaboration with government, industry, and academic institutions, we aim to demonstrate that hydrogen is a practical and efficient energy storage solution—one that drives both environmental and economic benefits.
Our on-site Innovation Centre will serve as a hub for knowledge exchange and hands-on experiences related to hydrogen production and peak power generation. Municipalities partnering with us will gain insight into state-of-the-art hydrogen technologies, while also accessing new training and development opportunities for their communities. We invite local governments and stakeholders to join us in pioneering sustainable energy strategies that will help shape a clean, prosperous future for all.
H2 Municipal Benefits
Replace natural gas with carbon free hydrogen
Install first 100% hydrogen turbine installed in North America
Install electrolyzers to produce hydrogen using cheap off-peak electricity
Maintain grid capacity where it’s required
Create Centre of Excellence and Innovation for new breed of hydrogen peaking plants
At least 100 construction jobs and 20-30 operational jobs
$400 million investment into municipality

LT2
Public Energy’s LT2 Program is designed to meet Ontario’s urgent capacity requirements by transforming shuttered industrial sites or greenfield properties into modern power generation facilities that use natural gas or renewable natural gas. By swiftly supplying reliable power in alignment with the IESO’s LT2 contract, these projects will help keep electricity costs stable and ensure grid security as demand continues to rise.
Our approach goes beyond simply adding capacity. Each power plant will feature multi-fuel engines or turbines that are fully hydrogen-ready, positioning these facilities to adapt seamlessly as the energy landscape evolves. By investing now in flexible, low-emission infrastructure, municipalities and partners can secure vital energy support while laying the groundwork for a cleaner, hydrogen-powered future.
